May-June 2020 Instructional Update-Elementary

Students and Parents,
The attached memo was sent to us teachers as a resource guide.  There is SOOOO much good information located in it.  I felt like I needed to share the whole thing rather than copy and paste certain parts.  Parents you may want to download this memo to your computer or print out for safekeeping.  If your child is in need of "fun" things to do this summer, there are so many online resources available to them.  They can take virtual field trips to national parks, go to LAUSD online summer school, and get new grade level lessons in Math/ELA/Science every day from a variety of sources.  All the info is right here.  In addition, they can keep up with their Xtramath, Pathblazers, and IXL for as long as their passwords hold up.

In light of recent national events, there are also resources in this memo to help children (and parents) deal with all the things they have seen and heard recently and how to process the feelings that come with them.

This summer I'm going to study how to deliver content with Google Classroom and getting the students to use more of the G Suite apps.  LAUSD is also adopting new Science and Social Studies curriculum for next year so I will have my hands full learning them.  I'm still learning things at my ripe old age.  Being a teacher means being a life long learner.  I hope you all will continue to have the mindset of being life long learners.
