Principal's Message

May 25, 2020
Greetings Loyola Families,   This is Dr. Smith with your weekly updates.
Just a reminder Monday May 25th is the Memorial Holiday and  the school will be closed, as well as the online classes.
Just a reminder if you are considering participating in the various Summer Enrichment programs we are offering as a District, please be sure to sign up. Fifth grade families, there is a Summer 5th to 6th grade Junior High Transitional program for your children.  I’m excited to say we are partnering with the Los Angeles Chargers Football team with one of the Summer Enrichment programs.  Sign up at  https://achieve.lausd.net/summer2020
This week would have been our  Appreciation Teas: Parent Volunteer Appreciation, Bus Driver Appreciation, and Classified Staff Appreciation.
Feel free to prepare Thank you notes with your child for their Bus Driver, or their Yard Supervisor, or Teacher Assistant, or Intervention Tutors, or the Office Staff, and don’t forget our Cafeteria Staff.  If you screen shot or take a picture of the thank you card, I will email it to the appropriate staff member. Email me at Krishna.Smith@lausd.net

Coming soon:

5th Grade families, the Graduation will be on Thursday June 04th  at 9am. Details will be shared with the viewing information  in the coming week.
Kindergarten families, your graduation ceremony will take place on Friday June 05th at 10am. Details will be shared with the viewing information in the coming week as well.

We have three weeks left of school, let’s be sure to finish out strong. We are taking this time to review skills taught throughout the school year and prepare for the upcoming year.

Take some time during the summer to have your child review the skills to avoid your child forgetting skills taught during this school year.  Also read, read, read all summer. 20 minutes a day reading grade level appropriate text increases the students overall vocabulary and fluency.
This week during our Chat/Check In with Dr. Smith on Wednesday I will continue presenting the following topic “ Becoming a Digital Citizen” I will be sharing resources that I have found helpful as an educator and parent in supporting our children to become responsible digital citizens.
