Greetings Lo.V.E. Families, this is Dr. Smith with your Weekly Updates. I hope this winter break has been a time for you to relax, rejuvenate and celebrate all the things you are grateful for. As we start this semester, I want to remind you that Monday January 11th is a Pupil Free Day. Our teachers will be engaging in a day of Professional Development and planning. Classes will begin Tuesday January 12th at 9 a.m. and will continue in an online format. In addition, because of this change in the calendar, the last day of instruction for the school year will be Friday, June 11.
Starting this Thursday I will be reading to the students weekly. I will send a message thru Schoology with the link your students can use to listen to my pre-recorded stories.
Our Offices will still be closed however, you are still able reach us by phone or by email.

Greetings Lo.V.E. Families, this is Dr. Smith with your Weekly Updates.
As we prepare for our Winter Vacation, I want to reiterate the message I have shared with the Students during our Monday Morning Assembly. I reminded them of the importance of having a Spirit of Gratitude.
This year has been a lot for many of us. Many of us have experienced challenges that have greatly impacted our lives. During this upcoming break take a moment to pause, and take inventory, and focus on what you DO HAVE.
I know a lot has been taken, but pause and look around at what /who is there and present. Let’s walk into this season with a Spirit of Gratitude, and thanking all those around us that have helped us up during low times, our Children who continue to smile and bring us joy. Our personal peace of mind, remember you control who you allow to take away your peace. Reflect on that joy on the inside. If you don’t have joy now, I recommend, thinking on experiences, times or people who bring you joy and rest in that space until you return back to your personal state of joy. Finally reflect on Love. The Love of Family, The Love of Friends, The Love of your Loyola Village Family.
End 2020 with a Spirit of Gratitude and continue to Walk into 2021 with Love,Joy and Peace surrounding you.
This will be my last Sunday Connect Ed message in 2020. Our last day of school is Friday December 18th. We will return back to school on Monday January 11th.
I hope your Holidays are filled with Gratitude and you continue to bring Love, Joy and Peace with you into 2021.
Greetings Loyola Village Families, this is Dr. Smith with an important update.
I want to reiterate the message Superintendent Beutner shared this morning Monday December 07th at 8am. Because of the dangerously high level of COVID-19 in the Los Angeles area, it is no longer safe and appropriate to have any students on campus. We are asking those who are currently working at schools to work from home if at all possible for the rest of the semester.
We will still distribute your textbooks and the Book give aways from our Superintendent on Tuesday December 08th from 8am - 3pm and Wednesday December 09th from 8am - 3pm. Check with your classroom teacher first to see if your classroom teacher has textbooks or items you need prior to 2nd Semester.
Effective December 10, there are no student programs on campus such as childcare, in-person tutoring, assessments and any in-person services for Special Education if applicable. Our staff will work to transition in-person services such as tutoring and assessment to virtual online services if applicable.
If you need technology support, please contact the main office at 310-670-0480. Although the office will be closed, we will still be answering calls during the school day.
The Grab & Go Food Centers and COVID-19 testing sites will remain open.
These changes at schools will remain in effect until the next school semester begins on January 11. We’ll continue to evaluate the situation and provide updated information along the way.
Greetings Lo.V.E. Families, this is Dr. Smith with your Weekly Updates.

I have attached to this email a copy of the two models you can choose from.

Thank you to all the families who have taken the Baseline COVID-19 test. As we continue to prepare for the opening of school for in-person instruction, an initial test will provide the District the valuable information it needs about the incidence of COVID -19 in the communities we serve. Immediately prior to the reopening of schools, all students and staff who will be returning to schools, will be provided with a further, back-to-school baseline test.
